NON HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN
The objective of this project is to research and develop a prototype for a non-human centered design. The focus within our project was on developing outdoor lighting for public spaces. The aim of this lighting is to reduce 'light pollution', or air pollution due to the presence of light, because this has a major influence and adverse effects on the flora and fauna of densely populated areas, such as the Netherlands. In our research we limited ourselves to the animal group of birds, what this pollution of the air by light means for them and how we can solve this through product design.
During this research, we entered into a partnership with the Sustainable Design School in Nice, France. The project took place under the supervision of the Utrecht School of the Arts.
