SITUATION
The situation concerns the second practical test, PA2, of the semester Space & Material.
The exam consists of presenting the preliminary design (VO), of the conversion of the boiler house of the Gasfabriek, te Deventer, to a youth care clinic.
TASK
In order to pass the exam with a good result, I was given the task of a to give a presentation about my sketch design, where I made my
substantiate choices by means of a powerpoint presentation.
ACTIVITY
The presentation of the preliminary design (VO) is a translation of the sketches, the program of requirements (PVE) and the concept image into a visual collection. By means of research into the location and the formation of the target group, a concept has been formulated with the accompanying image. This is then in the form of sketches and spot plans
developed into the VO.
REFLECTION
RESULT
I agree with the teacher's feedback. I had focused on the wishes and needs of the target group, because the chosen target group is very sensitive to the designed environment. As a result, I did not divide my time equally efficiently on every part, so that there is indeed still improvement in the use of the sketch model. I also agree with the feedback to look again at the use of space for furniture and seating. Due to lack of time, I have not been able to spend the time that I would have liked. In general I am very satisfied with the result achieved.
The assessment and the feedback obtained are listed to the right of this column. The scoring is also stated here. The score is 11/18, which brings the number to an 8.
TRANSFER
In the coming weeks, in which the project makes the transition from preliminary design to final design, I will focus on making more efficient use of the space for furniture and seating areas. In addition, I will look at how I can make better use of the sketch model, in order to arrive at new insights.

POINTS 11
NUMBER 8
Clear presentation in which you can clearly articulate your concept and design and in which you indicate that you have taken into account the wishes and requirements needs of the users.
Do not forget to use the sketch model to arrive at (perhaps more) surprising spatial outcomes. Ask yourself whether the space is used efficiently with this arrangement (eg amount of seating and pleasant and logical arrangement of furniture). Pay attention to scale, proportions, number of seats. You present in a pleasant way and the drawings look neat. The perspectives provide a whole picture. Tip: use human figures to scale and enliven a visualization.
